It’s not often that Tennessee residents get a chance to check out two of the year’s most anticipated genre films before their formal release dates, but the Chattanooga Film Festival is about to make that happen–and then some.
Chattanooga, Tenn. (February 6, 2018) – The Chattanooga Film Festival (CFF) is proud to announce opening night films ROCK STEADY ROW and SUMMER OF ’84, as well as its partnership with the Chattanooga Theatre Center (CTC) which will serve as hub of its 5th annual weekend of films, panels and workshops. This year’s CFF, slated for April 5 - 8, will also screen the world premiere of the highly anticipated documentary LIFE AFTER FLASH.
EXCLUSIVE: London-based sales and financing outfit AMP International has boarded global sales on Life After Flash, a documentary that chronicles the making of 1980 cult sci-fi pic, Flash Gordon. Directed by Lisa Downs, the film also explores the life of the savior of the universe himself, Sam J. Jones, and the aftermath of the clash the hot-headed young star had with producer Dino De Laurentiis. AMP will screen footage at the EFM in Berlin next month.
As February draws to a close, and winter appears to have passed Chattanooga by entirely, it’s time for a new dream of spring. The end of March promises not to go out like the traditional lamb as the Chattanooga Film Festival returns for its third year, bringing with it a cavalcade of new films, new guests, and new rumors.
On Saturday April 8, 2017 Adam and Joe performed an episode of The Movie Crypt in front of a live audience at the Chattanooga Film Festival in Tennessee. The filmmakers were on hand to present 10th Anniversary screenings of Green’s HATCHET and Lynch’s WRONG TURN 2 as well as Lynch’s new film MAYHEM — which took home the festival’s most prestigious award of all… “The Audience Choice Award!” In this episode they conduct audience Q&As about HATCHET and WRONG TURN 2, have a conversation about putting on a film festival with CFF’s director Chris Dortch, bring back a retired segment that is an audience favorite, and are joined by one of the podcast’s most favorite guests – C. Robert Cargill (DR. STRANGE, SINISTER). You’re gonna have as much FUN listening to this one as the boys had recording it!
2017 heralds the arrival of the fourth Chattanooga Film Festival and the first year I have been able to attend. In its relatively short existence, the festival has acquired a stellar reputation with its programming of indie genre offerings and promises to be a treasure trove of films for DAILY GRINDHOUSE readers looking for something new.
